Heather's "cute little tea biscuits"

Heather is not famous for her biscuits. However, these were as good as the little biscuits we had at the Carriage House in Stanton Hall in Natchez. Light, flaky, and moist. The eggs were a perfect over medium just like I like them. And of course coffee is always better in Mom's 1982 World's Fair mug. I miss her.....

Italian Sub Stoup

This is a "stoup" recipe from Rachael Ray. We had the stuff, well most of it and I improvised with the rest. It was good. I didn't have any croutons so I cut hamburger buns to size. These are Heather's grandmother's onion soup bowls. This recipe is a keeper.

Meatloaf with creamed potatoes and early peas

It has gone by many monikers; Mystery Meat, Alpo Special, and other not so nice names. Yes, we made meatloaf. I thought about different ways to use the ground beef we had in the freezer and this thought struck me. After a quick google hack, I found Alton Brown's recipe. Why didn't I start with AB? Mom’s Meatloaf

What “meat” this is, I cannot say,

Upon my plate, a slab of gray.

The texture doesn’t give a clue,

But makes it not much fun to chew.

I wonder, did it cluck or moo?

Or oink or baa? Or bark or mew?

What meat this is, I’ll never know.

Cubed steak with chipotle smashed potatoes and butter peas

The title says it all. Quick Monday night meal. The steak was a little salty. I tried to give it a boost with some Tony Chachere's and probably over did it.

Osso Bucco

Heather mixed it up a little this time. She added a few mushrooms to the risotto. This dish was perfect.

Pizza Shack Friday night

We ordered pizza from the Pizza Shack. Hollie was considered it "Market Research" since it is so close to Sal and Mookies. We let her slide on this one. The pizza is very, very good. We also got some hotwings. Very HOTwings. They have mild, hot, or Firestarter. Being Burwell's we opted for the latter of course. I was sweating like Michael Jackson watching Oz by my third one. Once we had finished the wings, there was about 2 oz of sauce left in the container. Well, where it wasn't burning through the foil. I asked Hollie if she would do it in a shot. She replied, "For $20!". Cheap entertainment. I said the one stipulation was that she couldn't drink anything for 4 minutes. She slammed it and played with Emma like it was nothing. I can't imagine what the pain was like on Saturday. I hope I never find out till my colonoscopy.
